View Point: #Buhari will be able to deliver

Optimism is what several citizens of Nigeria show as they anticipate the progress and 'change' that Buhari is set to deliver in due time.

It is in foreseeing the bright future to come that Mr. John Ameh, a pioneer of "The state of the Nation", a non-governmental, non-profit making body, like a watch-dog, saddled with the responsibility of interceding for the intervention of God in Nigeria, tells Crystal Education Magazine that he is personally excited about the emergence of Mohammadu Buhari as president since he perceives Buhari to be a highly disciplined person and has great integrity.

He sees the new government as a progressive government that will sponsor development. He said Buhari will bring about the needed change in the country, stating that right from the election of principal officers in the National Assembly, unlike previous governments, Buhari did not interfere with the process, and was rather, determined to work with whoever was going to emerge, either as the Senate President or as Speaker of the House of Representatives. This is change from one angle, he said.

Mr. Ameh maintained that the President has always desired and is still in search of competent, credible and reliable Nigerians who can work with him to ensure that the much expected change by Nigerians is achieved at the end of his tenure in office.

"I believe that Buhari will be able to deliver on his campaign promises because by the time he is able to appoint and position good people in reasonable places, his government will bring about the much needed change."

"WE HAVE AN OPPORUNITY. LET US TAKE IT"

I wish to take a cue from the last words of President Buhari's inaugural speech, "We have an opportunity. Let us take it." It is said that when opportunity meets preparation, the result is a great accomplishment. No other person has the nexus between opportunity and preparation to make such assertion than President Buhari, who has over a decade dreamt of, prepared for and finally achieved his dream of leading Nigeria as a democratically elected president. Having achieved this feat with the help of the masses who seemingly were tired of the manner of governance that trailed the polity, and coming at a time everyone for the first time have the strong belief in the person who is to lead them, then certainly, we have an opportunity.

According to Stephen Richards, "To dream by night is to escape your life. To dream by day is to make it happen." We have been in the dark side of life with regards to leadership since the birth of this republic in 1999. The president then emerged without the slightest thought that he wouldl one day lead this nation again. From prison, he was arranged to be the president, an arrangement he thought was ideal, hence after eight years, he organized another leadership for us. Though morally better than him, his successor was short sleeved by fate, leading us into another quagmire of unpreparedness. But during all these, the General, now President Buhari busied himself with dreaming and positioning himself to lead the nation. Though checkered by some wrong approaches and comments, he grew in preparation, understanding the nature and dynamics of the nation he desired to lead. At last, he found himself taking the center of the good hearts of the larger population. His once-in-a- night-time dream, eventually became a daylight dream: in the words of Stephen Richards; "making it happen."

With this readiness, and the backing of most Nigerians, President Buhari is right to say we have an opportunity. It however behooves on all of us to join him in the call to take this opportunity. I strongly agree with Jane Austen that "It is not time or opportunity that is to determine intimacy; it is disposition alone. Seven years would be insufficient to make some people acquainted with each other, and seven days are more than enough for others." Yes! It is our disposition and approach to the opportunity that will determine the length of time it would take for the change promised and desired to take place.

As I concur with Thomas S. Monson that "Our most significant opportunities will be found in times of greatest difficulty." Let me leave you with the words of our dear President Mohammadu Buhari…

TO CHILDREN ALL OVER THE WORLD

As I woke up to face the reality of a new day. It suddenly dawn on me that it was another Children's day. I had mixed feelings figuring how best I would be bold enough to tell the distressed kids I see around the streets Happy Children's day.
While in my deep thought, I quickly dashed off my bed, said my prayers, did my chores and hurried to work. I remembered vividly how my childhood memories were, how I always looked forward to seeing my friends at school, most of who were nice and I loved them silly and others who were really naughty. But I was very happy because they made every bit of my day as a growing up child count. We could 'yab' that is make jest of ourselves and play with one another till the day fades away and never will there be grudges in our hearts.

languages and culture day at GSS KUBWA: Students Cast News in Three Major Languages

Students Cast News in Three Major Languages
The Head of Department, Languages of Government Secondary School Kubwa, Mrs. Esther Kanu, has lauded the success of this year’s languages and culture day. Speaking with Crystal Education News shortly after the event, Mrs. Kanu described the entire event as ‘fulfilling.’ According to her, language remains the force that is uniting everybody and that was why she themed this year’s edition as ‘Languages for Unity.’
However, the success of the event was not without challenges, as the event was almost canceled. “There were challenges at the beginning. Initially, the event was almost canceled, but I told my principal that this is our annual event and it is mandatory for us to carry it out, he saw reasons with me and gave us the opportunity to go ahead.” she said. “The teachers on the other hand are very hardworking. But you have to control them very well. Sometimes they would seem not to be serious, but when they come out, it is always in full force and they give their best. That is exactly what my departmental teachers have done. They showed that they can give their best. And on the part of the students, you will pursue them this way and they will follow the other way; but as teachers, we still ensure that these children are under us to control and being train, we were able to catch them and then exhibit what we had today.”

VIEW POINT: Actions should be devoid of politics

Mr. Modestus Chukwulaka, an official of European Union (EU) at the secretariat, Central Business District Abuja, speaking from his office stated that the new government under Buhari should deal decisively with corruption in the various sectors of the economy.
According to him, all the past political leaders especially since 1999  should be probed, and all those who have looted the nation's treasuries should be brought to book and made to face the wrath of the law and their loots recovered.
He further expressed concern about the insecurity in the nation. According to him; “insecurity is the major challenge and setback to business and economic activities especially in the Northeast of Nigeria where Boko Haram insurgency has virtually destroyed economic development in the region.” He therefore urged the new government of Muhammedu Buhari to immediately swing into action as rightly declared in his inaugural speech that the Army Headquarters should be moved to the area (Marduguri), adding that all actions should be devoid of politics in order to put an abrupt end to the insurgency in the region.

Image result for Veritas University

The trends witnessed in the country in the last decade is very sad, and it is time the youths go beyond bearing just the name as the leaders of tomorrow. They must stand up to the occasion and say ‘enough is enough’, be patriotic and be willing to make sacrifices so that Nigerian can come out of its present state. That is the advice of Professor Michael Kwanashie the Vice chancellor of Veritas University Abuja.

Speaking during an interview in his office, Prof Kwanashie after noting the key steps the present administration has to follow to bring about the desired change, stressed that the youth must be ready to pay the price for the change they desire.

The rising trend of Domestic Anomalies : A WAKE UP CALL TO PARENTS - BY Chidi M. Nwachukwu

You cannot separate the behaviour of a child from the image of his home or parents  they are interwoven.
“Once upon a time, parents had a lot of children, but today, children have a lot of parents.”- Obafemi Awolowo
While it is true that the era in which we live presently is responsible for the domestic anomalies that daily confront us, it must also be asserted that we have a major role to play in ensuring that things go as we intend them to. We can decide the trends that occur in our lives and make arrangements towards achieving our set goals and objectives. We are not totally left at the mercy of fate for the progression of our lives. We owe much of the successes we achieve to our personal efforts and not to chance. If we want to be successful in life, then we must decide to be. Life is absolutely what we make of it.
Let's take a quick tour into the rising trend of Domestic Anomalies and the role it has played in marring the character of our spontaneously pristine children. As children are leaders of tomorrow, it is very pertinent to address all issues that affect them, while ensuring that they get the best kind of life obtainable.
